What advice would you share with your 6 year old self? You know those moments in your life where you sit back and go 'WHAT A CRAZY FREAKING RIDE THIS IS.....' Well I'm constantly having those moments right now. Here I was at 6 years old making cooking shows in my kitchen and pretending to be 'Alison Holst' and here I am now, many years later.....making cooking shows with a Masterchef. This is mind blowing to me. I know I've talked about this before, but I had another moment today where I'm talking about my work and realised, I am that little girl who had a lot of detours along the way, but through sheer grit and determination, followed her dream. And now I get to make TV and live that dream every day. It certainly has not been easy - I'm not going to lie and paint a picture of sunshine and roses! It's been a really challenging journey and I've ended up in a number of side streets and dark alley ways along the way. It's made me realise however, how important that dream was, and is to me. I've have had some great highs and some pretty tragic lows, but if I could share anything with that 6 year old self....if I could just whisper in her ear and give her some advice to help her stay away from those stupid side streets....I'd say 'Don't listen to what everyone says.....YOU CAN.' What advice would you share with your 6 year old self? M X

I LOVE HELPING PEOPLE. Why? I love to see people find their happiness and see them discover their greatest expression of themselves, knowing that I have been a key part of that journey. That brings me a lot of joy. However.....Have you ever given, and given, and given to the point where you're exhausted? Burnt out? Angry? Quietly resentful? Did those people you've helped get angry when you had nothing left to give? How do you feel about that? Is giving too much, your normal way of being? Your default? Do you like it? How's that working for you? I've been talking to loads of people recently who have shared this same story with me. How much is TOO much?? Why do we feel that we have to keep giving, even though we have nothing left? Have you been in that situation where those people you've helped over and over again, have continued with the same negative self talk and have NOT implemented your advice or taken your ideas and support and have NOT moved on to achieve their goals or realised their greatness, so it's all just been a waste of your time and energy?? Mate, I'm with ya. THAT SUCKS. I've done it. We've all done it. So why do we do it? Here's my thoughts: for me, it was because I've always just wanted to be liked and accepted by everyone. Does that resonate with you? So here's a big question for you: At what cost? At the cost of being so burnt out you no longer like and accept yourself. No deal. For others I've spoken to, it's about one day hoping to turn that support into money. One day. Why can't that day be today? Why can't so many of us simply stand in our own power and have the balls to say: I CAN HELP YOU AND THIS IS MY VALUE. There are so many reasons WHY we give too much. It's not a gender thing. It's not a mum thing. It's a HUMAN thing. In our Caveman day's we were hard wired to support the pack because if we were excluded, we would not survive. Well, times have changed and now is our opportunity to remind ourselves that we can give and support others, without having adverse affects on our energy and our health. We can't make anyone else like us. We can simply like ourselves and ensure that we put our own happiness and wellbeing FIRST. That way, we can authentically help others AND pay the bills AND FEEL GOOD without wanting to cut anyone. Know your tolerances, know your boundaries and have the balls to back yourself. Happy hump day. #ownit #wednesday #inspiration

Just had a great radio interview with Craven Noble from Kia Ora FM 89.8 about the power of conscious positivity to create a happy and fulfilling life. I love my chats with Craven as it gives me a moment to look at my own life, look at the profound learning I have gained through challenges, failures and my own self limiting beliefs and relish in the choices I've personally made to 'find happy'. Now, I'm not saying I've nailed it or that I live in a bubble of joy every day, but I do consciously choose a happier view point, as when I do cool stuff happens. My Dad Morris, who was an amazing healer and motivational speaker always said 'Thoughts are living things Monique. Choose your thoughts wisely....' and I guess that's what I'm doing. There's speakers around the world who share ideas on the fact that 'Thoughts become things' and this has actually been scientifically proven. I guess in my instance, good thoughts become cool stuff, awesome opportunities, great timing and unbelievably magnificent people appearing in my life, so from my point of view it's definitely worth giving it a go. It's better than feeling like a bag full of old socks anyway. Have a sensational day and consider, what thoughts are you going to choose consciously today? Much love, M X

Just found my perfect casual black pants courtesy of my pal Chasing Cait - Style Coach These are the Riley Drape Pants and are the most comfy pants I have ever worn. I picked up a pair from her site last week. At just $45 these pants are a steal. Matched with a Just Jeans, Cotton On cardy, Simply Beautiful snood and Quay Australia sunnies, I feel like an off duty celebrity. Lol. Hit up Cait for the pants!
