Happiness and the pursuit thereof....

Happiness and the pursuit thereof....

Greetings friends!!!  Well, what an amazing time I've been having!!!  High Tea last weekend was divine as lovely Partner Pete and I were joined by Sunita (The Duchess of High Tea) Rebecca, Sandra and Wendy.  It was incredible and we enjoyed each others company immensely!!  What a great venue - Brownstone on Ponsonby Road in Auckland and I was delighted to present each lady a little goodie bag with some special gifts courtesy of my friend Mark Donovan from Donovan's Chocolates, Petes 8 year old Daughter Leah (who made cat cards), Sunita who has a business called 'Fancy Pants Treats' who made fresh macarons for the guests and a massive gift from Shannon Simpson from Nana Anne's Home Remedies!!!  Face masks and fresh tea samples a-plenty for everyone and to top it off the food was fab....

If you're looking for more fun, please join my online community: www.getalife.net.nz
I'm hoping to book more High Tea events very very soon!!!

And A Right Royal Welcome To Our New Contributor - The Duchess Of High Tea - Sunita Martin

Salutations my people, this is your Duchess speaking.  Allow myself to introduce….myself.
My name is Sunny and I am a BIG fan of the high tea.  I have been all over the world trying out different high teas in my time and am now in the process of helping my workplace, The Library CafĂ© in Onehunga, in perfecting their high tea.
I am also a baking fiend, and you’d do well to keep on my good side and live nearby to me as I bake a lot and test new things and invent constantly, but because I have Diabetes, I can’t actually take that step to know it is perfection.  And my husband is kind of getting sick of being the guinea pig.  I may not be able to take joy in my creations, but I sure enjoy seeing other people enjoy them! To learn more about me and my work you can visit the following sites:
And to book for one of our exclusive events: http://www.getalife.net.nz/blog/get-out/high-tea/high-tea-events
Love and sweet delights,
Duchess Sunny XXX

Nothing says 'LOVE' like a freshly baked cupcake

Greetings to you from the High Tea Queen *waves regally*

Well, I adore cupcakes and other baked goods and as it was my partners birthday yesterday, I felt it was a good time to celebrate! AND CUPCAKES were a great choice thanks to the wonderful team at Frangipani Cupcakes in Auckland. How many of our major celebrations are attached to some sort of feast? Think about it...birthday's, weddings, christenings, funerals...they are celebrated the same in almost every culture!  So yesterday we devoured Red Velvet cupcakes with Chocolate (and Pink) butter cream frosting....WOW is all I can say....totally amazing and enjoyed by everyone who was lucky enough to get a bite! To read more about it and to hear my thoughts on birthdays and the emotion that goes with them, visit my blog: http://moniquebradley.wordpress.com/2013/07/26/nothing-says-love-like-a-freshly-baked-cupcake/

The High Tea Queen Gets Out And About - Vauxhall Cafe

Greetings chums!  It's Monique Bradley here - The High Tea Queen and what an exciting day it's been!
Just so happened that whilst out taking a stroll, I happened to make a return visit to one of my new favourite places to go...Vauxhall Cafe in Milford Shopping Centre.
Love the styling of this place

This is one of staff. He's a cool cat and suggested how I may like to taste my tea with Soya Milk...
Love the Logo!

Good day to you chums! (By the way - you can find more of my amazing High Tea hints here: http://highteaqueen.wordpress.com/)
I’m Monique Bradley, Actor, Singer, Entertainer, Presenter and MC.
I have a huge background in food appreciation due to growing up with a mother who is a home economics teacher. I grew up in her kitchen, which was always on the go and from a young age I was cooking scones and other baked goods.
I have such fond memories of standing at the kitchen bench and looking at myself in the window in front of me to watch my performance as ‘Alison Holst’ – the Queen of New Zealand Home Cooking since her first appearance in the 1960′s.
I have had the great fortune of working as MC of ‘The Food Show’ in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch for the last 13 years.  One of the highlights for me so far has been to meet and work with Alison, my childhood cooking Idol who has been a presenter at the show and I believe I was so nervous, I curtseyed….It’s all a blur.
OK, So I’ll be honest, I’m not terribly good in the kitchen when it comes to cooking meals, but I LOVE baking and am certainly an excitable consumer and lover of this incredible tradition!
For me, the biggest buzz about High Tea is the tradition.  For 1-2 hours, you are sitting and enjoying.  All the stresses of life disappear as you make the most of the incredible baked delights in front of you, chat with your girlfriend (or boy friend) and solve the problems of the world. I’m convinced that there would be less world problems if the great leaders of the world took tea together.
This blog will be dedicated to the following:
My favourite High Tea Venues
High Tea Venues in Auckland (where I currently reside)
High Tea Venues In NZ
High Tea Venues around the world
The difference between High Tea and Afternoon Tea
High Tea and Brunch
High Tea at the…..(you can help me fill in the blanks with your suggestions or invitations)577718_10151026441519595_1766145309_n
How to eat well etc….
And recipes for different yummy things – as well as a suggestion on Etiquette, what to wear, what to do and a little more about the tradition of this incredible experience.
I look forward to loading reviews and organising events as well so make sure you start following my blog so you can redeem your invitation!
Be well!
Monique Bradley – The High Tea Queen! *waves regally…*
